free golf tips on putting

It will soon be winter in my part of the world. That dreaded time of year when golf becomes a thing of the past. Clubs are stored away and we dream of warmer days to come.

During this down time our golf game deteriorates. So do our bodies. The warm weather outdoor activities give way to a less active winter lifestyle that includes a lot of holiday eating. That will means we’ll have some work to do this spring to get back in shape for golf.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could actually take advantage of the off season to improve our fitness for golf? Then in the spring we’d be ready for links from that first warm day on?

This is the third in a series of articles on winter practice tips. This one discusses fitness for golf.

Golf Fitness

Fitness for golf has been recognized by more and more golfers as a vital part of how they can play better now and avoid injury in the future. The winter is a great time to focus on improving your fitness.

Begin with core muscle work. Stretches with a resistance band and stomach crunches go a long way to developing those critical core muscles. This work will also improve your ability to make a proper full turn. Your swing will become more consistent and reliable.

Training with a pair of light dumbbells and some cardio work (running/jogging on an elliptical or treadmill) will build stamina to keep you swinging well all round long.

I recommend spending about thirty minutes on the cardio work and five repetitions with the dumbbells of deep knee bends, curls and shoulder rotations. Also a three sets of five stomach crunches to build up the core muscles.

There are many coaches offering golf specific workout and stretching programs. If you are not already knowledgeable about what you should do to improve your fitness for golf then I would strongly urge you to find a trustworthy program for yourself.

Golf specific exercises and stretches will make you a far better golfer over a long season.

During the long winter off season we can get really out of shape for golf. We have the choice to either work to stay in shape or work to get back in shape. Our recommendation is that it often much easier to prevent than to restore.

A few minutes a day spent on a golf fitness and flexibility program will not only help you maintain your fitness for golf but you most likely will return to golf in the spring with a better body than you had when you left the game.

“The Putting Pilot The Putting Pilot was developed from years of research. It was designed to make the putting stroke natural and simple. This unique approach to a putting stroke trainer incorporates the technique that governs the putting stroke of every great tour player. Our trainers tie together the mechanics of the putting stroke into a simple, seamless, natural and repeating motion. It is truly incredible! The Putting Pilot is the only putting trainer that gives you feedback on the complete professional putting stroke: path, putter plane, correct aim and putter alignment. Practice – The Putting Pilot is the ideal way to improve your putting because you are always learning the “Natural Feel” stroke the pros use. As the pros have found, improved technique, consistency and confidence from using The Putting Pilot leads to better results out on the golf course. The Putting Pilot is available in a length of 24 or 30 inches. Putter Path – Sliding the heel of the putter along the guide means that your putter follows your Natural Plane – the ideal path. The putter will travel along the target line at impact, and will swing naturally inside on the back swing and on the follow through. Putter Arc – Sliding the putter along the curved top surface on the guide means that it follows a perfect swing arc. This is the simplest stroke because it is based on a pendulum swing simply pivoted from the spinal axis (without bending or straightening the arms). Aim – Address the golf ball with the putter face aligned to the guide lines and your putter will be aimed correctly every time. Putter Alignment – The guide lines on the Putting Pilot show the correct positions for the putter face throughout the entire putting stroke. Sweet Spot – The Putting Pilot ensures that the impact point on the putter is the same as the address position giving a pure roll – crucial for good distance control. Rhythm – The natural stroke inside-to-inside path will help the rhythm of your stroke. Consistency – With the Putting Pilot you practice the same, world class putting stroke all the time. The Putting Cyclops

The Putting Cyclops

$99.95

“The Putting Cyclops The Putting Cyclops is a unique Putting trainer that can be adapted for right handed or left handed players and can accommodate various stroke paths based on stroke style Straight or arched . Works with most putters on the market. An optional cap for center shaft putters is available. Easily sets up in less than 1 minute and can be used indoors and out.The Putting Cyclops was designed by Golf Professionals and is used by LPGA Players, CPGA Players, and PGA Players. Unit collapses and comes with a compact carrying bag perfect for easy, hassle free storage, attaches directly to your golf bag while on the green!  Features Keep Your Eye on the Ball The Putting Cyclops is designed to help you keep your eye on the ball. A common mistake with putting is to watch the putter head directly or with your peripheral vision. The result is that the golfer moves their head causing the club face to open or close on the ball and cause the golfer to push or pull the club as a result. Putting Cyclops shields the putter head, removing the distraction and allows you to adjust for your stroke style. Even the professionals who work with Putting Cyclops are surprised to see the difference in their putting after finding their optimum stroke. This is achieved as the toe of the putter head glides against the putter guide. By removing the distraction and programing your mind and muscle to your optimum stroke style you become free to focus on the vision of the putt. How Does It Work? Set the assembled Putting Cyclops on the ground, lining up the guideline on the top with the hole. Place a golf ball on the ground so that it can be seen through the round opening and place the club so that the face can be seen in the rectangular portion of the opening with the toe of the club against the putter guide. While keeping your eye on the ball execute a putting stroke based on your distance to the hole. Adjust the cyclops for any error in the path of the ball. Once lined up, you can concentrate on your stroke without distraction. It is important to look at the ball and keep your eyes on the place where the ball was located until the ball has cleared the end of the Cyclops. Experiment with the stroke path settings. Many golfers have been finding that determining what is their optimum stroke path can have positive results on their putting. Cyclops helps to program your optimum path with repetitive training.    Specs Club Loft Lie Volume Length Swing Weight
